Character

An elegant garnet-red wine, fruity and well balanced. Its powerful and intense bouquet is dominated by ripe wild berries with notes of candy, dried fruit and minerals. On the palate it is slightly sweet with appealing tannins and a harmonious, full-bodied and mellow structure. The fruit flavours are supplemented here by a touch of mint.

Schaffhausen

Das Klima in Schaffhausen ist kontinental mit relativ warmen, trockenen Sommern und kühlen Wintern. Topografisch lässt sich der Kanton in zwei Gebiete unterteilen: waldbedeckte Flusstäler im Zentrum und Osten sowie flachere Landschaften im Westen an der Grenze zu Deutschland. Hier, in der Region Klettgau mit dem Zentrum Hallau, liegen die wichtigsten Schaffhauser Weinbaugemeinden. Auf tiefen, tonhaltigen und eher flachen, kalkhaltigen Böden wachsen hauptsächlich Pinot-Noir- (fast zwei Drittel der angebauten Rebsorten sind rot) sowie Müller-Thurgau-Reben, wobei die produzierte Weinmenge gemessen an der Fläche des Kantons beachtlich ist.
