Character

A garnet-red wine with an intense bouquet of blackberry, a touch of strawberry jam and sour cherries. On the palate, it is pleasingly sweet at the outset with a wonderful fullness, mellowness and harmony. On top of the fruit aromas come spicy vanilla and cinnamon notes, followed by an enjoyably long finish.

Region

Apulien

The Southern Italian Apulia is one of the country’s most productive winegrowing regions. Apulia extends across 400 kilometres from Gargano in the province of Foggia to the tip of Italy’s boot shape, a little beyond Lecce. The region is host to the largest number of vine varieties in Southern Italy, with more than 80 percent red vines. The Mediterranean climate and calcareous subsoils with layers rich in ferric oxide produce the perfect viticultural conditions. Dry-hot summers allow the vines to ripen optimally, the wines turning dark-red, earthy and full-bodied. In contrast to other Southern regions there are barely any mountains here, the landscape consisting mainly of plateaus and plains. A winegrowing region with enormous potential – the possibilities of the innumerable indigenous vine varieties are far from exhausted. Today, Apulia offers the finest quality wines, intense and full-bodied. The most excellent vine types grow on the Salento semi-peninsula.
