Character

The Taita from Montes is a new and top class achievement. The first 'super icon wine' – created with passion, oenological precision and, above all, with wisdom. In this wine, Aurelio Montes combines all the knowledge he has gained in 25 years of wine production. Montes Taita is a concentrated and complex wine, with limited production. Intensely ruby-red in colour, rich in aromas of blueberry, blackberry, mocha and truffle. On the palate, notes of cedar and bitter chocolate unfold, at once both superbly elegant and powerful, with soft, noble tannins. Harmonious in structure with a pleasingly long and complex finish. Montes Taita has the potential to mature over a long period and can be laid down for at least 15 years.

Central Valley Region

Das Central Valley ist – was die Weinmenge betrifft – eines der wichtigsten und grössten Weinbaugebiete Südamerikas. Es erstreckt sich von den Küstenebenen des westlichen Colchagua bis hin zu den Andenausläufern von Puente Alto und ist in die Subregionen Colchagua und Cachapoal unterteilt. Auf seinen 400 Kilometern Länge bietet es eine grosse klimatische Vielfalt und sehr unterschiedliche Böden, was in einem enormen Angebot von Weinen, von traditionell chilenischen bis hin zu modischen Weinen im Bordeaux-Stil, resultiert. Auf jeden Fall spielt Chiles Star-Traube Carmenere hier die Hauptrolle. In den kühleren Regionen experimentieren Winzer aber zunehmend auch mit Rebsorten wie Viognier, Riesling und sogar Gewürztraminer.

Since its establishment, it has been the companion of the top winemaker Aurelio Montes, an outstanding personality, and extends its protective hand over the wonderful wines. Because of this and thanks to his profound sense for new terroirs and top wines, Aurelio Montes has made it onto the international wine calendar. He has discovered Chile's potential and produces wines of the highest quality. Today the Montes winery includes vineyards in Apalta, Marchigüe and the cooler Zapallar area. It is of course family-owned and family-managed by Aurelio Montes with the support of his son Aurelio Montes junior.
